Not this morning, nor a typical morning…but about a month ago I was lucky enough to photograph the deer and her fawn behind our home. They are building a new elementary school close by and that has displaced a lot of wildlife (including the cows that formerly resided on the pasture land, but that’s a different story).
When I was a little girl my in New Jersey my grandfather always named the first squirrel of the spring Elvis. In honor of him we always name the animals we see out back. The alligators are always Elvis, the cranes are Frasier, Lilith and Frederick, the turtles are Mortis and Myrtle. I cannot call the deer Bambi, his mom had a terrible ending after all, so we call her Faline and my daughter calls the fawn Thumper since he thumps around.
